The Reformer is a machine consisting of a sliding carriage with shoulder blocks attached by springs to a bed-like frame, with a standing platform, footbar and adjustable cord straps. There are also additional accessories such as the box, jump board, Pilates circle and ball.

The reformer is extremely versatile and allows for functional movement in varying orientations, as you can stand, lie, sit and kneel on it. The springs, straps and moving carriage offer support and assistance, as well as changeable resistance which makes the machine very adaptable and also increases the challenge.

We will familiarise you with the reformer and how it operates. We will also teach you the correct technique to perform each exercise. Be prepared to experience a challenging workout that will all feel a bit foreign to begin with, but you will soon get used to it!

Please wear activewear that allows you to move easily, without restriction. Close fitting clothing is preferable to allow for form to be seen easily, as well as, for safety of things not getting caught in/on any of the equipment.

You won’t need shoes, so feel free to come in whatever footwear you prefer, but we do ask everyone to wear grippy socks (we have these available to purchase if you don’t have any).

Yes, reformer Pilates is suitable for anyone and everyone. Our sessions are tailored to the individual and as such we will work with you and your capabilities. Pilates compliments all other forms of fitness.
